Keen to showcase the work of the many talented designer-makers we’ve met over the past couple of years, we opened Shop Indie to go alongside our existing online retail businesses.

Once again, we wanted to go for a clean, modern look which put the focus on the products. Given the variety of styles on show, we wanted to ensure that there was a clear, consistent design which would work with everything from candles and children’s craft kits, to jewellery and cards.

This site was built on WordPress with WooCommerce, and we utilised a number of additional plugins to enhance the eCommerce features of the website. The cart display was built specifically for Shop Indie to minimise screen space, whilst remaining accessible for customers wherever they are on the site.

The homepage makes use of tiles which can easily be swapped around so products and promotions to be mixed and matched depending on seasonality and upcoming gifting occasions.

The key theme of the website was simplicity, and this is something we feel that we’ve achieved.

When are aren’t building websites, you will find us running our homeware and gift business, Altered Chic.

We decided on a design that was clean, product-focused and would work from a user’s perspective across devices. Built on WordPress with WooCommerce, this replaced a previous version which allowed product listings and order details to be ported seamlessly across to the new website.

The site itself contains a number of key features needed to ensure that it worked for users and our business, most notably the use of custom forms to handle the multitude of personalisation options available on a number of products.
